Faith Formation
Faith formation in a Catholic church is a vital process of education in the Christian faith for children, youth, and adults, aimed at fostering a deeper encounter with the mystery of Christ and full integration into the Church’s life. Drawing from the baptismal catechumenate as its model, it emphasizes comprehensive formation—doctrinal, moral, liturgical, and spiritual—through gradual stages, biblical immersion, sacramental experience, and active community involvement, ensuring genuine conversion and ongoing growth in holiness.
As Pope Benedict XVI highlights, it mirrors the Emmaus disciples’ journey, where Scripture is explained in light of Christ, nourished by the Catechism and living Tradition to make salvation history personal and transformative. This formation prepares the faithful for sacraments, equips them for authentic witness, and supports evangelization, always deeply rooted in the Church’s living Tradition.

The Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd Catechism is a faith formation journey designed to help children grow in a personal and meaningful relationship with God and their community. Through Scripture, guided reflection, and engaging activities, children are invited to encounter the love of Jesus Christ in a way that is age-appropriate and relevant to their lives. Sessions focus on building a strong foundation of faith by exploring key aspects of Christian life such as prayer, belonging, service, and understanding God’s presence in everyday moments. The environment encourages participation, curiosity, and conversation, allowing children to ask questions, share experiences, and deepen their understanding of what it means to live as a disciple.

Edge Catechism
Edge is a middle school youth ministry program by Life Teen for grades 5-7, designed to help young Catholics grow in their faith. It combines faith formation, community building, and interactive learning through bi-weekly gatherings with prayer, teaching, discussion, and activities. Edge provides a safe and supportive environment for students to ask questions, share experiences, and build friendships, while also encouraging parental involvement.
The program meets the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of middle school youth, helping them navigate early adolescence with a strong foundation in their Catholic faith.

Life Teen
Life Teen is our parish’s Catechism program for high school students in grades 8-11, designed to lead teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. As a Eucharist-centered movement guided by the Blessed Virgin Mary, Life Teen is run by youth and young adults, called Core Members, who strive to live out their faith and witness Christ authentically. The program focuses on evangelistic outreach, inviting teens to grow in their faith, experience God’s love, and be empowered as disciples. Each term includes Life Nights for catechesis, Issue Nights addressing real-life challenges, and Social Nights for community and fellowship.

Sacrament of Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church, along with Baptism and the Eucharist. It strengthens the grace received at Baptism and bestows the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord, preparing candidates for a mature Christian life. Teens who are 16–17 or in Grade 11 with three years of Life Teen are invited to join the Confirmation Chosen Journey, a 24-lesson program that explores the richness of the Catholic faith, from Creation through salvation history, and shows how sacraments, prayer, and discipleship guide them to a life as disciples of Christ.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process for adults seeking to join the Catholic Church or complete their sacraments of initiation. It guides participants through conversion and preparation for Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, providing a supportive community where individuals can learn, share, and grow in faith.
RCIA welcomes adults 18 and older, offering a formation that leads to full initiation into the Church at Easter, while helping each person deepen their relationship with God, strengthen their love of Christ, and live a life of service. Participants meet regularly to explore the faith, reflect on Scripture, and engage in prayer and fellowship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join RCIA?
RCIA is for adults who are not baptized, baptized Christians from other denominations seeking full communion with the Catholic Church, or baptized Catholics who have not yet received Confirmation and Eucharist.
Is attendance at Sunday Mass required for Catechism students?
Yes. Regular participation at Sunday Mass is an essential part of faith formation and is expected alongside attendance at weekly catechism classes.
What are the requirements for receiving Confirmation?
Candidates are expected to attend formation sessions, participate regularly in Sunday Mass, complete any required service components, and attend a retreat if scheduled by the parish or diocese.
Can a non-Catholic attend RCIA sessions?
Yes. Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith is welcome to attend enquiry sessions without obligation.
How will families be kept informed throughout the year?
Communication is usually provided through email, parish bulletins, WhatsApp Communities, WhatsApp Groups and the parish website, ensuring families receive updates, schedules, and important reminders.
What if our family has been away from the Church and would like to return?
You are most welcome. The parish team will gladly meet with you to discuss the appropriate formation pathway and support your family in reconnecting with the sacramental life of the Church.
