Pastoral

Pastoral Care & Guidance

Our pastoral ministry is devoted to walking alongside every member of our parish as they grow in faith and deepen their relationship with God. We provide guidance, support, and encouragement through prayer, counseling, and meaningful outreach, ensuring that no one feels alone in their spiritual journey. Whether celebrating moments of joy, offering comfort in times of sorrow, or helping navigate life’s challenges, our pastoral team is committed to fostering a caring and compassionate community.

Through active listening, spiritual direction, and acts of service, we strive to reflect Christ’s love in all that we do, creating a welcoming environment where every individual can experience God’s grace and presence.

What We Offer

St. Andrew’s Library

The Parish Library was opened and blessed by Fr. Hulgraine on 30 November 2000. Over the past two decades, we have received many generous book donations from parishioners and continue to grow our collection with good-quality books. If you have books you’ve read and would like to donate, we would be very grateful. Our library includes a wide range of categories such as the lives of the Saints, Bible study, spiritual reading, care and counselling, prayer books, children’s books, and family life. We are also working to create a welcoming, well-organized space with comfortable seating and clear systems.

We welcome volunteers who love books to help care for the library. If interested, please contact Teresa De Matos. Your support helps keep this a valuable parish resource for everyone in our community to enjoy and use.

Funerals

When a loved one passes away, the family's first step is to notify the parish office or priest. Our parish is here to support the family during this difficult time by helping with all arrangements for a Requiem Mass or memorial service.

Families are encouraged to schedule an appointment by contacting the parish office to meet with the priest and discuss the necessary arrangements for the funeral rites. We are committed to providing
compassionate guidance and pastoral care to ensure that the funeral service honors the memory of the deceased and provides comfort to their loved ones.

Garden of Remembrance

If you would like to have the ashes of your loved one interred in the Garden of Remembrance, please reach out to the parish office to arrange the details. Once a date for the interment has been set, we will also coordinate the installation of a personalized plaque on the Wall of Remembrance to commemorate their life and legacy. This serene and sacred space serves as a place of quiet reflection and prayer, offering family and friends a peaceful environment to honor and remember the departed. Our parish is dedicated to guiding you through this process with care, sensitivity, and respect, ensuring that every detail is handled with compassion.

By providing support, prayer, and assistance, we strive to help families find comfort and solace, while creating a lasting tribute that preserves the memory of your loved one with dignity and reverence.

Mass Intentions

When requesting a Mass for a specific intention, please write the intention clearly on an envelope, preferably in block letters. Indicate whether the intention is for a living or deceased person, and specify if it is for an anniversary. If you prefer a particular Sunday Mass, please state this clearly; however, please note that the Mass may already have been requested by another parishioner. Include your name, phone number, and the Mass offering inside the envelope. Mass intentions for the upcoming week are typically posted on the notice board and included in the weekly liturgy sheet by Friday afternoon.

To ensure your intention is included, we recommend providing two to three weeks’ notice. This allows us to accommodate your request and remember your loved ones in prayer during the sacred celebration of the Mass.

Finances

As members of our Parish, we all share the responsibility of supporting our church, its leaders, staff, and ministries. Give willingly from your heart and experience the joy of generosity, faith, and commitment. Donations to our Church and Parish are always gratefully accepted and play a vital role in maintaining our ministries, services, outreach programs, and the upkeep of our facilities. Parish Planned Giving accounts for over 80% of our annual income, funding salaries, programs, buildings, and special projects. Parishioners give through envelopes in the Sunday Collections, the Planned Giving Programme, or via regular automated EFT or Debit Orders, which help the parish plan ahead and maintain steady support. To join the Planned Giving Programme, contact the parish office to request forms by email, in person, or download a registration form.

Leaving a Bequest

A bequest is a gift of assets—such as money, property, artwork, or other valuables—made through your Will, Living Trust, or other testamentary arrangements. Monetary bequests can be a specific amount or a percentage of your estate, transferred to your chosen charity after your passing. While thinking about a Will can feel uncomfortable, it offers the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy and make a meaningful difference. By including our Parish in your Will, you can support our missions within the community, including assistance for the frail, elderly, sick, and those in need. Your bequest can also help fund parish ministries, youth programs, and building projects, ensuring our work continues for generations to come. We are deeply grateful to those who have remembered the parish in their Wills over the years. Please contact the parish office for details if you wish to include a bequest.
